We seek an enthusiastic, experienced Catering manager to work in this unique and dynamic business within the heart of Eryri, North Wales.
Our campsite and Barns wedding venue lie on the shores of Llyn Gwynant, where people come to enjoy back to nature camping and water-based activities. Llyn Gwynant Barns is a stunning wedding venue adjacent to the campsite with private camping fields, where couples spend at least the weekend for their wedding. Established in 2025, Y Bragdy (The Brewery) produces approximately 24,000 pints of beer per season.
We are seeking a lover of the outdoors who will work hard as part of our energetic team: proven experience in Catering is required for this role, along with energy and a desire to take a lead in ensuring our guests get the absolute best from their stay at our incredible site.
The successful applicant will be part of our planned journey over the next year towards a more wholesome and circular offering, incorporating lamb and beef sourced from our own farm as well as a shift to more in house produced fare, using our new remote prep kitchen.
The role may suit applicants from a variety of backgrounds including leading chefs, catering managers with experience in schools, visitor centres, museums, military, workplace canteens.
The annual timeframe for this role is the start of March to the end of October. Our team work approximately 41 hours per week depending on business levels, sometimes more, sometimes less. We are a long-time living wage employer and offer very competitive wages. We are able to offer accommodation in a shared staff house within walking distance of out site. Whilst this is a seasonal role we are happy to facilitate an annualised hours arrangement, providing income into the winter months by ‘banking’ a portion of your hourly earnings each month that you work. There could also be an option of part-time employment through the winter, depending on the other skills and abilities that you have.

Job Title: Catering Manager
Main purpose: You will oversee the catering at our busy campsite. namely the pizza, gourmet burger and breakfast outlets. You will also be responsible for our remote prep kitchen. This is a hands-on role working closely with staff to ensure an excellent customer experience.Hours and pay:
This is a permanent position. There will be more hours worked in summer than in winter. The hourly rate is £19 per hour, pay can be annualised or paid only during the main season
Responsibilities:
Responsible to: General Manager, Operations Manager and Site Manager.
Responsible for: all staff working ‘on shift’ in the catering environments, both onsite & in the remote prep kitchen.
Liaison with: customers, suppliers, farm manager, staff employed by Gwynant Ltd

Flexible employment terms: you will work full-time for the main season each year (March to October) but can choose not to work the other months or to have part-time work in winter if you wish
Main tasks of job:Ensure legislation on food & hygiene is adhered to in the catering outlets and the remote prep kitchen, especially regarding the sale of food & allergens and food hygiene (using the SFFB model)
Ensure an excellent customer experience is consistently achieved in the catering outlets by ensuring food is consistently produced to a high standard, ensuring that wait times are well managed and that the outlets appear presentable to the paying customers at all times.
Deliver training and staff development for all staff working in the outlets to ensure they understand the importance of hygiene, cost control, customer requirements including allergies, the proper presentation of the bar, stock rotation, checking of deliveries, food labelling, personal appearance & uniform standards
Maintaining margins and stocktaking with regular stock-takes and a keen understanding of margins across different product ranges.
Keeping costs under control by completing annual costings of the product range to make sure purchases are made at the best possible prices from a range of reputable suppliers.
Supporting management to ensure all staff are following all the policies and procedures of Gwynant Ltd at all times. Also upholding all policies relevant to customers stay, including rigid upholding of our campsite rules
From time to time this job may involve working outside rostered hours, to deal with special issues, in which case additional hours will be paid at the normal hourly rate. Days worked are by negotiation with the General Manager and your requests will be carefully considered.
As a manager you may also be expected to fulfil other roles within the business, such as working on reception and the shop, and in housekeeping.
Although appropriate time is allocated for tasks you will be expected to manage your time appropriately to ensure that you duties are fulfilled.
