Gwynant Campsite You can click the image above to see a larger version. This map shows the field names in black, key features in white, and group areas outlined in red, which are reserved for groups who book in advance, see our Group information page. The lake shore at the front of the campsite is for recreational use of all campers. No camping or vehicles are allowed between the lake and a row of white marker posts. Campers who want a more secluded experience can park their cars at the back of Pen Helen and walk to Bridge field. Others can simply drive to their camping area of choice, though cars must be generally parked on the roadside. In the busiest season there are portaloos near the large Bridge field car park to supplement the toilet block. Images of the campsite fields can be viewed in page 1 and page 2 of the camping areas photos. Details of the fields are as follows: Pen Helen: The most popular field for camping is bordered by the lake and river. Two areas are reserved for groups, see our Groups information page. Up to 10 caravans are allowed at the edge under the trees that separate this field from Ddôl Fawr. See campsite areas page 1 for images. Bridge field: is beyond Pen Helen, bordered by the river. This area is for tents only, no cars allowed. Parking is available at the back of Pen Helen, in two different parks. Two areas may be reserved in advance see our Groups information page for more. These group areas are sometimes available for public camping. See campsite areas page 1 for images. Pen Ddôl is between Bridge field and Ddôl Fawr with areas for camping and parking, and walking access through the hedgerow to Bridge field. Ddôl Fawr (Large meadow) is the large back field where vehicles are allowed, but not caravans. See campsite areas page 2 for images. This field includes a small area of woodland where hammocks and other kinds of wild camping are allowed by arrangement. Ddôl Fach (Small meadow): a sheltered area close to the toilet block, where vehicles are allowed but not caravans. See campsite areas page 2 for images. Cae Hendre, Barn field and the Barns: are not shown on this map as they are not on the public campsite. However they are not far from the campsite reception and toilet block, see our Barns page for more details |
