The public camping fields and the Llyn Gwynant barns are open from early March till the beginning of December, or earlier if the water freezes. Occasionally we will open in February for some specific large event. There is a huge amount of information in this website, available using the links on the left. Rates depend on where you want to stay and whether you are a large group, or hosting an event:
Public campsite: At the campsite we charge per person per night: rates are given below. Links on the left give more information about the campsite including our frequently asked questions - for example bookings are not required for small groups but are essential for groups over 20 people who want to camp together or to stay mid week in the barns. If your query is not answered by the faqs then please contact us.
Groups using the campsite should read our special group information and group regulations. Special rates are offered for Duke of Edinburgh award and other youth groups if they meet our special conditions. Bookings are required for any groups of more than 20 people, see our group booking page.
The Llyn Gwynant Barns are large stone buildings separate from the campsite with their own private field. They are a popular venue for weddings and other events, which are charged for at a special 2-day rate. Out of season or mid week they are used by large camping groups who pay a per person fee subject to a minimum rate. See our barns page for more details.
Boat hire and activities are available from the campsite riverside on weekends from June - August and most high season days when weather is suitable. We rent boats by the hour. Instruction in paddling and adventure activities such as gorge walking are available by prior arrangement for groups see boat hire or activities for more.
Caravans and campervans: Only 10 caravans are allowed on site (15 on bank holiday weekends) and large vans and motorhomes must be on the hard standing by the lake. Please read our caravan and campervan information page.
Rates for 2013:
Rates are the same as last year. We charge per person per night, under 5's are free, and this covers just about everything - unless you have a gazebo or empty tent or extra large tent on a busy day in which case we make a charge for these. We also charge for large vehicles that go beyond the campsite carpark as they damage our roads: there is an area of hard standing near the lake (down a small track opposite our rates sign) where large campervans can go at no charge for the van. We offer a long term discount of £1.00 per night for adults who pay for 5 days or more on arrival, though only if this is paid in advance and no refunds can be given if you leave early. As always hot showers are free, and we do not charge for cars, occupied tents or for the use of our firepits. It is also free to launch your own (sail or paddle) boats on the lake if you are camping on our site.
Visitors who are not camping may also use the lakeside and campsite. Rates per day are as follows:
