| Llyn Gwynant campsite is designed for people who love the outdoors. The site is not overdeveloped, indeed our aim is that campers have a minimum impact on this environment. Out of season the land returns to green fields with little evidence of a campsite. We do however want campers to be comfortable. We have a stone toilet block (shown opposite) which has Ladies and Gents sections, each with toilets, hot and cold running water in basins and showers, as well as dishwashing sinks at each end of the building. At the back are more showers, as well as a level entry toilet suitable for wheelchairs which also has a baby changing table. In the high season we also put portaloos in the fields. We also have a reception building where you can seek information from staff, buy firewood, and where appliances can be recharged. This building also has a public payphone available 24 hrs a day. Please note that we do not offer electric hookups for caravans, though we do offer a chemical toilet emptying point. Rubbish is collected from the site and we require campers to separate their recyclables, cans and glass, into separate bins for recycling. The campsite toilet block interiors are shown opposite. As you see, they are plain but spacious, light and airy. The top picture shows the Ladies/Merched section interior, with seven handbasins, our large noticeboard above and a shower unit door shown at the end. There are also seven toilet cubicles in the section, some of them shown in the picture below. The Men/Dynion section has eight handbasins, five toilets, five urinals and a shower, some of which are shown in the lower photo. At the back of the toilet block are five additional showers and the level entry toilet with baby changing table. Weather information is posted outside reception and on the toilet noticeboards every morning in the high season. Dishwashing areas at each end of the building have large stainless steel sinks with hot and cold running water. These areas are sheltered by the overhanging roof. Drinking Water Our water is taken from mountain streams and purified using ultraviolet light treatment. Water quality is checked regularly by the local council. There are standpipes around the public campsite, placed near to the fire extinguisher boxes. We can run seriously short of water in peak season so please use water sparingly at this time. Lighting at the site is minimal. Automatic lighting is used inside and outside the toiletblock which switches on automatically when movement is sensed, but shuts down when movement ceases, so as to minimise light pollution at the site. Lights over the dishwashing sinks also turns off automatically Our reception building has firepoints, a public telephone and is the main information point on the campsite. Maps and information about local sights and walking tracks is available from the reception building. The present building has temporary planning permission and we will soon be building our new stone reception block, when planning issues have been finalised. |
