Touring caravans at Llyn Gwynant Campsite
Nantgwynant, North Wales

Touring caravans and campervans are welcome at Llyn Gwynant campsite, but there is some information we would like you to know. There are no restrictions on numbers or placement of campervans and trailer tents, but conditions do apply to touring caravans because of our planning permission.

Only 10 caravans are allowed on site at any time (15 on bank holiday weekends), and our planning permission requires that they are sited only on the main camping field Pen Helen. Although we do not require bookings for campers, it is possible to book a caravan on the site in which case a booking fee of £10.00 is charged.

Other information we would like you to know:

Access from the main road

Use care turning off the main road (A498). This is very sharp and it is very dangerous to attempt to turn right as you travel down hill (from Pen y Gwryd to Beddgelert direction). Instead please either turn at the lakeside laybys, or else you can travel to Nantgwynant where there is ample room to turn right in a loop and head back up the road without any difficult turn. Once you are heading back up the valley take the sharp turn left off the A498 as the road climbs up past the lake, then turn left again at the campsite entrance.

Where to park on the campsite

Our planning permission requires that caravans must be parked on the main camping field (Pen Helen if you want to look at the layout map on our website). Campervans and trailer tents however are not restricted.  There are notices on the site indicating where carvans can and  cannot go.  Turn left after the reception building for the main field. Once there you can park wherever you choose, just be careful if the ground is wet.

Chemical toilet disposal

Our chemical toilet disposal currently goes into the campsite septic tank. (We are seeking planning permission for a cesspit disposal point but these applications take time). This means that we cannot tolerate formaldehyde based chemical toilet solutions being used on our campsite.  We can supply at cost eco-friendly biodegradeable solution if you do not have it – ask our warden for details.

Electric hookups

Sorry we do not offer electric hookups. We do have hot water and free showers, but we do not have hair drying points. We can offer a re-charge service at our reception building, as well as a freezer for icepacks or food.
