Boats can be hired from the campsite by the hou.. The boat hire is open most weekends in
the summer, and every day during the high season when weather is suitable. Advice on clothing is available –
jeans are not permitted.
Our fully qualified boat hire manager and staff will fit you for a bouyancy aid and can give you basic information on safety and where to go. They can give you advice on paddling styles and methods for the different kayaks and canoes that we hire.
The river is on average a metre deep (though there are holes) and is safe for families and inexperienced paddlers. Those with more experience can go out on the lake.
Be aware that the water temperature in the river
and lake can be much colder than the sea. In July and August the
lake is great for swimming.
We offer discounts for 2 hours or more, or for 6 or more boats to a single group, especially if this is arranged in advance.
