We have our own boat hire facilities on the site. We also operate an orienteering course. Archery may be introduced in the high season - ask our wardens. Families are especially welcome. We have qualified instructors for kayak training and offer discounts for groups. Boat hire - Paddling is fun! Boats can be hired from the campsite most weekends in the summer, and every day during the high season when weather is suitable. We rent boats by the hour and can offer instruction by prior arrangement. Group discounts are offered. Advice on clothing is available jeans are not permitted. Be aware that the water temperature in the river and lake can be much colder than the sea. In July and August the lake is great for swimming.
* charge is per hour Orienteering: Have you experienced this outdoor challenge? There is an orienteering course set up on our land adjacent to the campsite and we can offer instruction and supervision. Compete with your group or work as a single team on a beautiful woodland course. Try to beat the campsite record! Walking: Do you know that you can leave your car at our campsite and enjoy a variety of walks in the hills or mountains? Three of the main paths up Snowdon are accessible directly from the campsite. The Watkin path goes from Nantgwynant, and you can walk down the side of the lake opposite the road to join this path - turning left over our stone bridge takes you on a lovely 45 minute walk to Nantgwynant. The PYG and Miners track both start up the valley at Pen y Pass. You can join these tracks by walking up the old road up the valley (turning left as you leave the campsite, at the cattle grid entrance). Once you are on the main track any of these takes about 5 or 6 hours to get up Snowdon and back. Do be aware of the sudden changes in weather that can occur in the mountains and be sure to take adequate footwear, food and clothing. Apart from the routes up Snowdon there are many beautiful and less crowded walks in the hills and mountains, accessible from the campsite. |
