Youth groups including Duke of Edinburgh award groups, scouts and school groups commonly use the campsite, and we offer special concession rates only if the conditions below are met.

Rates: For young people who are part of organised groups, we charge just £4.00 per young person, of 16, 17, 18 years, or the normal child rate of £3.00 for youths 15 and under. Adult teachers and support workers pay the normal adult rate. However this special youth rate is offered only if these conditions are met:

Group leader: The special rate applies only if there is a group leader who collects fees for the whole group, and a single receipt is issued

Minibuses: must be kept only in the main carpark. Especially early in the season we have had serious damage result from minibuses driving and turning on the grass.

Toilet block: this is not to be used for gatherings, for food preparation or for washing boots, warming feet in the basins or for other inappropriate purposes. Young people must respect other users of the campsite and realize that they are not the only users of our facilities. Food can be prepared in our dishwashing areas if the weather is very bad, but again, other users of our facilities must be respected.

Firewood: if young people want to have campfires, they must remember to bring extra money to buy it. Bags of wood are £4.00 per bag.

Where young people do not meet our youth group conditions we reserve the right to charge them at a normal adult rate.

Bookings: If there are more than 20 people in a group, then bookings are required. Read our group information page then download our Group bookings form. Fill out your details, enclose a deposit and post to the address at the top of the form.

Barn for inclement weather: The camping barn can be useful for cooking and shelter when the weather is unkind. See our barn pages for more. If the weather is bad on the day it is worth asking our wardens about the barn availability, as we often let it cheaper at the last minute.

Boat hire and activities: Youth groups often like to use our boat hire facilities and very large groups can reserve boats for hire in the very high season. We also have an orienteering course, see our Boat hire and activities page.

Contact: There is no mobile phone coverage in our valley. However we have a public phone box at our reception building on the campsite.
