Latest News from Llyn Gwynant Campsite
Nantgwynant, North Wales

October 31st and the Boat hire is now completely closed. It will open again at Easter next year though may depend on the weather at this time of year. After that it will be open on most weekends and weekdays during school holidays, until the main school holidays when it will be open all the time.

Look what you're missing! October 15th and the weather is wonderful Autumn is suddenly with us here at Llyn Gwynant, at least autumn colours are looking splendid but it is still very mild. Here's a view of the campsite from up on the hills on a sunny Saturday afternoon. You will notice that we are not very busy at this time of year, ideal for some peaceful time in the mountains. Boat hire is available on weekends by arrangement so drop us an email if you want to use them.

Friday 30th September and it's warm and sunny. The Indian summer has come to Llyn Gwynant, so why not come as well to enjoy it. Our campsite is open as usual (we don't close till late November, and the date depends on the weather). This morning the air is warm, the sun is shining and we plan to open the boat hire on Saturday and Sunday. So pack up your tent and come down for the great late summer-by-the-lake!

This Saturday 24th September is our autumn Red Cross fundraising night This Saturday we host a members-only musical event in the Llyn Gwynant barns that goes into the early hours of Sunday morning. We shall accept campers as usual on the campsite and will endeavour to limit the noise heard on the site, but we cannot be sure that campers will be undisturbed. So if it is our usual peace and serenity you need, perhaps this weekend may not be the time to visit us. We do not like to incovenience our campers, and only do so because this event has raised many thousands of pounds for the Red Cross over the years. We think you will not mind a little disruption to help people who have much more serious problems in their lives.

Thursday 11th August. Since we were granted our wedding license we've had lots of enquiries about weddings in 2012. We thought you might like to see what some recent wedding parties have done with our function barn. As you can see from the photos above, it's a very versatile space and can be made to look very festive!

Friday 22nd July. School holidays are here and the weather forecast is great for the next week! Remember that as usual we don't take advance bookings (other than for large groups of 20 or more) so feel free to just show up, there's plenty of space for everyone. We start on our high season rates today so adults pay £9 per night, and kids stay the same at £4. Boat hire will be open from Saturday for the rest of the holidays, and adventure activities will be available from Monday. Come on down and don't forget your sunscreen!

Thursday 9th June. We now have a wedding licence! The Llyn Gwynant Barns have been approved as a venue for the conduct of civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. While many couples have held wedding parties at our barns over the years, we are thrilled that we are now able to host the ceremonies themselves. The barns are Grade II listed buildings, and are located near the campsite entrance, separate from the main site. If you're getting married and are looking for a historic venue in a stunning natural setting, have a look at our 'Barns' page, or contact us for more information.

Friday 27th May. It's been a wet and wild week at the campsite! The winds have eased off today but there is still a bit of rain forecast over the weekend. If you're not put off by a bit of wet weather come on down! We probably won't be as busy as we were over Easter, so bring your wet weather gear and we should have space for everyone. The boat hire will be open this weekend, weather permitting, and our adventure activities instructor will be around from Monday.

Thursday 28th April and the sun is again hot, with beautiful weather today, not a cloud in the sky, and a good forecast for the days ahead. Last weekend we were actually full on Friday night and put up our "Sorry we're full" sign on the main road, the first time we have had to do this at Easter! On Saturday we were taking campers again as many campers had moved on: we are one of the few campsites that lets you stay just a day or so on a bank holiday weekend, not requiring people to pay for 3 nights when they can only camp for one. However we have altered our rules and now have a departure time, 2.00 pm as we do need campers to pack up their pitches so that new people can move on site. If you are out walking for the day you leave, talk to one of our wardens and we may be able to accommodate your car, with camping gear packed in it, in the campsite car park for the day. Otherwise we may charge you the day visitor rate of £3 per person if you leave your pitch set up after 2.00 pm.

If you are planning to visit our campsite this weekend, we suggest you try to get here on Thursday, and if that is not possible then on Friday morning. Judging by last weekend, it is early evening on the Friday that the site may get full.

Wednesday 20th April and the sun is hot, with a great forecast for the Easter break. As usual, we do not take bookings so we encourage you to come as early as you can to be sure of getting a good pitch. Boat hire and Adventure activities are available for the Easter holidays. Lots of our regular campers have already taken advantage of the good weather to visit us: here is a picture from last weekend:

Campsite April 16th

This Saturday, 16th April, is our annual Red Cross music night. This is one of two weekends each year that our lovely quiet campsite is not as quiet as usual, as there is a members-only music event in the barns, raising money for the Red Cross. We apologise in advance to all campers, that Saturday night may not be as quiet as usual. If this is likely to be a problem for you, please delay your visit until after Saturday. We allow this group of music enthusiasts to use our facilities because they have raised thousands of pounds over the years, for a very good cause. This may be an inconvenience for you, but it will make a real difference to those unfortunate people who are helped by the Red Cross.

April 8th: the weather is sunny for the start of the school holidays! The sun is shining on Llyn Gwynant, and we hope you'll take the opportunity to get out among the mountains. The campsite is ready for you with green fields waiting and a lake ready for your canoe. The Boat hire will be open during the school holidays.
