For printable information click here: The barns at Llyn Gwynant Campsite are imposing stone buildings, available for groups who can also use their private camping fields. These Grade II Listed Buildings are near the entrance to the public campsite. The beauty and privacy of the barn complex makes them popular with camping groups and also as a venue for weddings and private parties. The barns are let in two configurations depending on the size of your group. The Camping barn is suited to up to 40 - 50 people. This barn faces onto the yard, has a kitchen at one end and seating around a pot bellied stove at the other, and comes with the adjoining Sleeping barn with alpine type sleeping platforms for up to 20 people. Barn field in front of the yard is also available with the Camping barn and can easily accommodate 50 campers. Larger groups (50 - 150 campers) use the Function barn behind the Camping barn as well, along with another field Cae hendre adjoining Barn field that stretches down to the lake. The large Function barn consists of an enclosed Dutch barn with big windows and a stage at one end, opening on to a large open lean-to area with a fireplace beside it. This barn can host functions for up to 350 people and can seat around 130. The combined camping fields can accommodate 150 campers. The barns are in a semi-enclosed farm yard surrounded by hedgerows with a separate agricultural barn on one side. A portacabin unit with porcelain toilets is in the yard, with 2 gents toilets and 2 urinals in one side, and a single ladies toilet in the other. Portaloos can optionally be added. The yard can park around 20 cars and opens onto the two private camping fields: Barn field which is very flat and can take either campers or marquees and/or parking for large functions, while Cae hendre (Hollow field) has a more rolling contour beside the lake. The layout of the barns and their fields makes them very flexible and provides a private and very beautiful space for groups. They are often used by large groups who camp in the adjoining fields and use the barns for food preparation and indoor activities. The Function barn is also a popular venue for weddings, birthday celebrations and other functions which are often combined with camping. In such a beautiful and private place these can be marvellous events, and since they can also be partly or fully self-catered can also be very cost effective. In the low season we often hire out just the camping barn, but in the high season prefer to reserve them for large groups using the entire complex. We have recently upgraded the barns and plan to continue improving them in the next few seasons. By 2011 we hope to have internal toilets and showers. See our Camping barns and Functions pages for details on these different uses of the Llyn Gwynant barns. Images are available on first barn photo page for images inside and outside these imposing stone buildings or second barn photo page for images of the surrounding fields. Conditions apply to the use of the barns, see our Barn rates page as well as the group information and regulations for more. For example noise must be limited so as not to disturb the public campsite, so only acoustic music is allowed outside and sound systems are monitored by our campsite wardens. Check our barn documents page for printable information including details of the Terms and conditions for using the barns, and for equipment that can be hired for functions. See the campsite layout map for more details about the position of this complex. |
