For a printable version of this information click here: The Llyn Gwynant barns complex consists of a large Function barn adjoining the Sleeping and Camping barns, as well as two private camping fields, Barn field and Cae hendre. The barns are part way through a restoration project. The outstanding beauty of these fine stone buildings and their location, combined with the privacy and felexible facilities, makes them a popular venue for weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations. Camping can take place in adjacent fields and marquees can be erected. The fact that functions can be self-catered and that camping fees can pay for the venue, makes this a very cost-effective place for functions as well. Facilities: The camping barn is described in the Camping barn page. This barn has electricity, gas, hot and cold water, cooking and washing up facilities, a refrigerator and a freezer, as well as a phone, and adjoins the Sleeping barn with raised alpine sleeping platforms, and space for storage or activities below. The Function barn has a large high indoor space in the old Dutch barn with a stage at one end, and an adjacent spacious lean-to which can be set up with a counter at one end. This combined space can accommodate around 330 people standing and around 150 seated at tables. Marquee tents as well as campers can use the adjacent Barn field and Cae hendre. A portacabin toilet block is outside, with 1 ladies, 2 gents and 2 urinals, but portaloos can optionally be added as the toilet block is several hundred yards away. Fires are allowed outside either on our wonderful new 'celebration firewok', an extra large round steel fire stand, or on the campsite firepits, or on the single bonfire site which is on Cae Hendre. Conditions apply for using the barns: Noise control: Only acoustic music is allowed outside, and only during the day. Sound systems must be inside and sound levels must reasonable at the campsite, barely audible after 11.00 pm and inaudible after 1.00 am. A refundable noise bond will be required where sound systems are used. Clean up: Barns and fields must be left tidy, with rubbish in closed bags, glass and cans separated for recycling - labeled bins can be provided to help with recycling. Fires: are permitted either on steel firepits that we provide, or on the fire site in Cae Hendre field. Wood can be sold in advance. We can also now provide a large round "celebration firewok". Vehicles: Small groups using only the camping barn must keep vehicles in the yard. For large functions in both barns, parking must be in Barn field, and the road to the campsite must be kept clear. Maximum numbers for a function are 300 - 400 people, depending on the type of event, probably 300 is a realistic maximum for inside, with seating at tables for up to 150. Event license: you need a license from Gwynedd Council if you are planning to have "Music, live or recorded, Dancing, a drama or film performance, Indoor sports competition with an audience, The sale of alcohol, The sale of hot food from 11pm until 5am, Boxing or Wrestling. To ensure consent a notice should be given to the Council and the Police at least 10 working days prior to the actual event." Note also that "if more than 499 people are attending, then a Full Premises License is needed, and the process could take up to 2 months."
