Barns
at Llyn Gwynant Campsite Camping at the Llyn Gwynant barns |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Llyn Gwynant barns are available for groups, who must book them in advance. Campers at the barns may pitch tents in the private barn camping fields, and/or have some people sleep inside. Small groups (around 50 people or less) use just the camping barn and barn field which lies in front of the yard. Larger camping groups (up to about 200 people) use the entire barn complex which includes the large function barn adjoining the camping barn as well as the field Cae hendre that lies between the barns and the lake. The camping barn consists of two adjoining rooms: one has seating around a wood burning stove at one end, dining area in the midde and a kitchen at the other end. The other room has multi-level alpine style sleeping platforms that can accommodate up to 20 people. The kitchen, pictured opposite, has 2 gas hobs, a gas oven, microwave oven, toaster, large fridge freezer as well as hot and cold running water and washing up facilities. The seating area has a woodburning stove and a payphone. The barns have electric sockets. The camping barn can accommodate up to 50 people, with seating at tables for up to 25. The function barn is a large enclosed area with high oak framed windows, a stone firepace and large wood burning stove, and a large stage (see image opposite). There are multiple electric sockets suited for stage lighting and sound system, as well as many powerpoints and room lighting. The function barn can accommodate up to 300 people, about 130 if they are seated at tables. The area is still being developed and will eventually have additional large windows overlooking the lake, as well as interior toilets and showers. Toilets are presently in a portacabin in the barn yard, with 1 ladies on one side and 2 gents and 2 urinals on the other. The toilets are porcelain and basins with running hot and cold water. If requested, additional portaloos can be hired and placed in the barn yard. The public campsite toilet block which also has hot showers, is a few hundred yards away. (Eventually we will have showers and toilets in the barns, but this will probably not be until 2011 or 2012.) Parking is in the barn yard in front of the camping barn with room for about 20 vehicles and there is more parking space near the function barn. Large events may use parking in barn field but only by prior arrangement and in good weather. Charges: Campers pay an additional fee for using the barns and a minimum charge for the barns applies. See our Barn rates page for more. Conditions apply: The barns are not serviced accommodation so a service bond is charged which is returned when the barns are left in a tidy condition. Sound systems are allowed only inside and noise levels must be reasonable so that the campsite is not disturbed. Barns and fields must be left tidy, with rubbish in the bins and glass and cans separated and placed in the recycling bins provided. Dogs are not allowed inside the barns and must be on a leash outside. Fires are permitted only on firepits on barn field or the fire site in Cae hendre, and only using wood bought on site - this can be arranged in advance. Please do not bring your own wood. No vehicles are allowed on the camping fields except by prior arrangement. Barn users are welcome to use the campsite toilet block facilities, and the lake shore, but should not roam across the public camping fields. See the pdf file Terms and conditions for using the barns which can also be downloaded from our Barn documents page. All users of the barns should also be familar with our campsite regulations and also our group regulations page. |
